Learn how to silence calls from unknown numbers using the DND or Silence Unknown call features, and block the calls by saving them as Contacts or directly adding the numbers to the block list via the call log.
In the present times, mobile phone is no longer a luxury rather a necessity. This coupled with the easily accessible information and connectivity; we are engrossed in our phones the entire day. While some are business calls and important conversations, the others are spam and telemarketing which we don’t want to attend. But eventually, we end up picking them and misinterpret them to be a normal number as they make use of the No Caller ID feature which does not prompt us about their being a spam call. These are referred to as No Caller ID numbers or unwanted calls.
After a rough day at work, an unwanted call seems to be a cherry on the cake. Deep down we all wish there could be a way to identify and ignore them. The good news is the iPhone provides us with various hacks to silence or block these numbers so that we can live peacefully.
Our iPhones come up with the special features that help us to block the no caller ID calls. Enlisted below are the few simple steps through which you prevent these calls:-
- DND (Do Not Disturb)
The DND or the Do Not Disturb option helps us silence the unwanted calls.
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Go to Do Not Disturb option.
- Select the Manual option and turn on the DND icon. Once it will be turned on, you will see a full circle icon in the status bar of your phone.
- Then tap on the Allow Calls From option and select All Contacts.
Choosing this will ensure that we receive all calls from your contact list. Since the no caller ID numbers are not saved in your phone’s address book; the DND mode will silence all these calls.
Through this method, the calls are not blocked but are silenced automatically.
Alternatively, you could open the Settings option, select Phone, and toggle on the Silence Unknown Callers option.
This will again silence all the unknown numbers (that is the normal calls from different numbers which aren’t fed in your contact list) along with the unknown caller ID calls.
2. By saving the no caller ID numbers as Contacts
- Create a new contact of the spam number and you can name it as No Caller ID or Unknown. You can do so by opening the Phone app. Go to contacts and tap the + icon. Enter the phone number and select done.
- Scroll towards the bottom of the screen and select Block. A pop-up will flash on your screen mentioning that ‘you will not receive phone calls, messages or FaceTime from people on the block list’. Select Block Contact.
While this option will block all the calls from the no caller IDs but you will have to save the numbers first in your address book and then finally you will be able to block them.
Another way by blocking is to tap on the ‘i’ icon adjacent to the no caller ID in your Call Log or Recent option. Scrolling down, you will find the Block This Caller option.
There is another trick to block such calls at the cellular level that is if they provide such features. To enable this, you will have to get in touch with the customer care executives of your particular cellular service provider.
While there is no one sure shot way to block the no caller ID calls on the iPhones, the solutions mentioned above will help to save your time and effort from the unwanted spam, private, and telemarketing calls.
Have you ever faced such instances when the no caller ID calls worsened your day? Were you aware of the DND and blocking features of the iPhone? If yes, have you used these features?
